Dyson intends to release a robot for housework
Dyson, a manufacturer of machinery from Great Britain, announced the start of work on the creation of robots. The company has already presented the first version of its device and plans to actively develop this area. For this purpose, the brand wants to significantly expand the staff of specialists, hiring about 100 engineers by 2027.
It is assumed that the robots from Dyson will focus on household chores. The first prototype has fine motor skills, so it can get dishes from drawers or dishwashers, vacuum, pick up toys, and put them in their places.
Dyson representatives say that they aim to create an autonomous device that can work around the house and perform simple tasks. It should be noted that the British manufacturer has long been interested in artificial intelligence technology, and it has its own developments in this segment. The company produces the Dyson 360 Eye model robotic vacuum cleaner.
For the new project, the company has already hired 250 engineers who have experience with machine learning and computer vision technologies. According to official figures from the manufacturer, its staff has already grown by 2,000 employees and will increase over the next five years.
Representatives pointed out that robotics is one of the cutting-edge fields that affect various sectors. And these technologies are interconnected with mechanical engineering, they complement each other, allowing the creation of more advanced devices that make life easier. Robotics makes it possible to automate many processes, increase productivity and improve the quality of production.
However, new employees are not the only plan in the direction of robotics. Dyson is building a research center in the United Kingdom, which will be the largest in the country in this field. It is being built in the town of Malmesbury, not far from the company’s design center, which is already in operation. The facility was originally intended to build a Dyson electric car, but the manufacturer abandoned the idea in 2019.
Dyson owns several engineering and research centers in Great Britain, Singapore, and Malaysia. The history of the company began with a small hangar in 1993, and now it boasts a large staff and a huge technical base.
The most popular Dyson product is considered a vacuum cleaner, which is based on cyclone technology. In addition, this device does not have a bag to collect debris, which at the time of its release was a revolutionary decision. Also in great demand are the company’s hair dryers and hand dryers.
On account of Dyson – more than 1300 patents for various inventions, the company invests a lot of money in the development and research of new approaches in engineering and mechanical engineering. And it pays special attention to the safety of the devices and their practical components.
