In 2019, Microsoft invested $1 billion in the startup OpenAI, which has become globally popular with ChatGPT. One of the clauses in the agreement to fund the young project was to create a supercomputer to develop AI technology. Microsoft needed to develop in a different direction. Then Microsoft specialists went a different way. They combined tens of thousands of Nvidia’s A100 chips into a single ecosystem. This project cost the corporation hundreds of millions of dollars but made it possible to create a powerful device to develop AI technology. Moreover, this architecture could fully function and scale despite huge workloads.
Thus, Microsoft provided a solid base for OpenAI to develop AI technology, which is now at the forefront of the technological process. The development of Microsoft’s experts enabled the creation of ChatGPT, whose audience has reached more than 1 million people in a record time since its introduction (since autumn 2022). This chatbot is used to improve the business models of various companies.

Data center capacity must cope with growing workloads and provide the necessary computational power.
Microsoft also uses its supercomputer for its development. Specialists use it to train new AI models. The supercomputer was also used to create a chatbot for the Bing search engine. At the same time, the corporation does not stop at the achieved results. It has already started developing a new generation supercomputer, which promises to revolutionize the technology sector.
As for Microsoft’s artificial intelligence, it is still in the testing stage. The main task at this stage is to determine what computing power is required for the AI to function properly and build up its capabilities. The point is that a supercomputer has all the structural elements working simultaneously. This requires reliable power supplies and an advanced cooling system. The load will increase even more when the Bing chatbot is fully operational. This means that appropriate steps must be taken in advance to provide the necessary resources.
