The Hexagon humanoid robot will become a universal assistant
Thanks to rapid technological progress, the robotics sector is growing quickly. In addition to automated dogs, machines that gradually take on human form are appearing. Hexagon presented such a robot at Hexagon LIVE Global in Las Vegas. This large-scale project involved collaboration with Microsoft and NVIDIA.
The developers position AEON as a multifunctional mechanism. AEON offers a variety of practical uses. AEON will be an excellent assistant in various fields, including aerospace, manufacturing, logistics, and warehousing.
Today, it is difficult to surprise consumers with robots. AEON looks similar to other systems but differs in its intellectual abilities. Experts have noted that the Hexagon robot gets stuck less often. Its battery also lasts longer than those of its counterparts.
According to Arno Robert of Hexagon, the project’s goal is to solve the problem of labor shortages. The shortage of personnel is due to the low birth rate and aging population in developed countries. This is particularly noticeable in Japan and China.
Since the active development of AI, developers of such machines have experimented with various forms. Robert claims that humanoids are the optimal form factor for various activities.

Humanoid robot characteristics
AEON is designed to learn independently through interaction with people. However, the Hexagon device cannot be considered fully humanoid. It moves on wheels, which increases its speed. This makes the robot an effective system in factories and warehouses.
The AEON characteristics:
- the robot has 22 built-in sensors.
- it is equipped with 12 cameras with different object detection ranges.
- the robot performs actions thanks to spatial intelligence from NVIDIA processors.
- it has AI-based flight control capability.
The robot self-learns by analyzing incoming information to perfect its actions, a function powered by Microsoft Azure cloud technologies. Maxon actuators equip the device, enabling it to move in various environments.
Hexagon is confident that the robot will perform a variety of operations with a high level of autonomy. At the same time, it ensures the necessary level of safety. The robot moves quickly and successfully completes tasks that require dexterity. This latter characteristic was achieved thanks to Hexagon’s unique precision measurement technologies.
AI processes information received from sensors. This enables the robot to assess its environment and determine the optimal solution for the task at hand. Moreover, the humanoid can replace its battery, thus eliminating downtime.
